Welcome to SIMCA
SIMCA is your virtual home for applied mathematics at Hopkins. Applied mathematics is spread across two math departments (Mathematics in Arts & Sciences a and Mathematical Sciences in Engineering), as well as Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, to name just a few. SIMCA is the response to the need of the Homewood community of pure and applied mathematicians to form a virtual Institute where information about their seminars, job opportunities and searches, courses, and other issues of common interest can be exchanged.
In
addition, SIMCA plans to sponsor a colloquium each semester in which a
distinguished speaker in the broad area of Applied Mathematics comes to explain
a field in terms which we can all understand.
This will broaden our awareness of the many ways that mathematics is now
used in Science and Engineering.
We also hope that you will use the SIMCA website and group for the
following purposes:
| To list your department’s seminars which would be of interest to the broad mathematics community at Homewood; | |
| To post your employment opportunities in mathematically related disciplines; | |
| To provide a forum for the discussion and coordination of issues of common concern. |
