Research at the Mathematics Department at Johns Hopkins University is concentrated in several areas of pure mathematics, including analysis and geometric analysis, algebraic geometry and number theory, complex differential geometry, algebraic topology, and mathematic al physics.

The goal of the Ph.D. program is to train graduate students to become research mathematicians. Each year, 4-5 students complete their theses and go on to do research at top institutions around the country. Many graduates have found exciting careers in mathematics outside of academia as well.
