Math 645, Fall 2007

Professor Minicozzi

Lectures:        MW 1:30 to 2:45 in Maryland 310.

Office Hours: 1-1:30 Monday and 10-10:30 on Friday in Krieger 408.

We will follow Do Carmo's Riemannian Geometry book and see how far we can get.

There will be written assignments roughly every couple of weeks.

There will be no class on Wednesday 11/25 (the day before Thanksgiving).

Homework:

The homework is the most important part of the course.  Everyone is expected to do all assignments by the date due and no late homeworks will be accepted.  I encourage you to collaborate with your classmates on the assignments, but each student must write up (and hand in) their own homeworks.  The course grades will be determined solely from the homework grades.

    Assignment 1 (due Wednesday 9/23):  page 31: 2, 5, 8, 9.

    Assignment 2 (due Wednesday 10/7):  page 46: 5; page 56: 3, 8; page 77: 1, 7, 8, 9.

    Assignment 3 (due Wednesday 10/28):  page 103: 2, 7, 10; page 119: 8; page 139: 2, 11.
