Linear Algebra with Applications, Third Edition, Otto
Bretscher.
Syllabus: This course will roughly
include: matrices, determinants, systems of equations, vector spaces, basis,
linear transformations, eigenvalues, eigenbasis, diagonalization of matrices,
inner products, orthogonality, Gram-Schmidt procedure, symmetric matrices and
quadratic forms.
Homework:
There will be suggested homework but they will not be turned in! Remember
that the daily quiz will be based
on this suggested homework. You are encouraged to collaborate on the
homework.
Quizzes:
There will be daily quizzes nearly everyday. This will be 20% of the total
grade.
Midterms: There will be two midterms. Each
midterm is 20% of the total.
Final: There will be a final, which will
be 40% of the total.
